Art and photography exhibition ‘Beyond Borders’ of travel memoirs
“Every country is unique and sharing this uniqueness is very important,” said chief guest MLA, Alina Saldanha, at the inauguration of mother-daughter art and photography exhibition ‘Beyond Borders’ at the Art Gallery, Kala Academy recently. The exhibition was held to celebrate the first anniversary of their family’s overland trip from Goa to Malaysia.
Saldanha further said that art is the language of the soul. “It speaks about the artist, personalities, countries, nature. I think when we keep in touch with all these factors, we remain rooted to the soul and we understand what is really important in life,” she added.
Cecilia who is also the author of the class XII English reference book ‘A marked difference in English’ felicitated the students who scored the highest in English in class XI and class XII HSSC Board Exam.
25 artworks depicting sights and scenes of their trip through Myanmar, Thailand and finally Malaysia were captured by mother-daughter duo, Cecilia and Melinda. The detailed record documents the different places the family visited like Tamu, Kalay, Amarapura, Mandalay, Mingun, Bagan, Nyaung-U, Nat Pyi Taw (Capital of Myanmar), Bago, Yangon, Kyaiktiyo, Bangkok (Capital of Thailand), Samutprakan, Hua Hin, Phuket, Krabi, Penang and Kuala Lumpur (Capital of Malaysia).
