Co-authors of travel book to speak at Hansen Museum
LOGAN — The Dane G. Hansen Museum will host the research duo of Marci Penner and WenDee Rowe of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, who will present the free program “Exploring the Nooks and Crannies of Kansas” during the museum’s annual meeting at 2 p.m. April 15 in the museum community room, 110 W. Main.
Penner and Rowe spent four years visiting each of the 626 incorporated cities in Kansas to write the 480-page book “The Kansas Guidebook 2 for Explorers.” The duo will take the audience on a “picture journey” throughout the state, sharing road trip ideas from restaurants to art and architecture and telling stories of their adventures.
After the program, they will sign copies of their book, which will be for sale at the meeting. The book has 4,500 entries that provide descriptions, directions, hours and contact information to help plan road trips. There also are more than 1,600 color pictures of historic bridges, statues, specialty shops, quirky sites, bike trails and backroad scenic drives.
