Thousand Words Photography opens in St. Lawrence Centre mall
MASSENA — A new photography studio has opened in the St. Lawrence Centre mall.
Thousand Words Photography, which is owned by Ben and Marina Smith, opened Oct. 20.
“We have been functioning out of our home for close to two years. This is much better,” Mrs. Smith said. “I think it’s good for the mall. We found out the mall was trying to revive itself. We wanted to give this mall a chance.”
They offer a wide range of photography services, such as portrait photography, corporate portraits, events and eventful moments such as pregnancy or weddings, architectural and commercial, and even pet photography. Samples of their work can be found on their website at www.thousandwordz.com.
Right now, they offer plain, gray, black and white backdrops for portrait photography, and plan to get more colors. Also available are unique backdrops for special photo shoots they’ll be offering, including “Polar Express” and “Night Before Christmas” backdrops.
“Those change with the season,” Mr. Smith said.
Their next photo shoot is a fantasy photo shoot that begins Nov. 10.
“I’ve seen a lot of interest in that one,” Mrs. Smith said.
The studio offers a variety of packages.
“We don’t confine customers to certain packages,” she said.
They’re not confined to in-studio photo shoots, either.
“We do travel on location,” such as weddings, special events and photo shoots, Mrs. Smith said.
Thousand Words Photography also has a portable photo booth, created by Mr. Smith, available for rental. The booth uses a built-in DSLR camera and creative templates that can be selected by the customer. The photo booth can be used as a stand-alone or in addition to the other photography services.
“It prints right there,” Mrs. Smith said. “They can pick out a template. I design personalized, customized templates as well.”
Anyone who wants personalized printing of photos and memories on merchandise, like coffee mugs and Christmas ornaments, is also in luck. The Smiths also offer fine art and stock photography of landscapes, scenery, nature, floral and more, as well as Gertrude Hawk Chocolates.
Thousand Words Photography is open Wednesday through Sunday or by appointment, although they will accept walk-ins if the studio is available. Reservations are required for special photo shoots, by calling them at 315-276-3536, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or sending them a message on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/thousandwordz/.
The “fork” ratings are based primarily on food quality and preparation, with service and atmosphere factored into the final decision. Reviews are based on one unsolicited, unannounced visit to the restaurant.
