The West Virginia Tourism Office released its new Official Vacation Guide, which the office hopes will stand out among similar publications produced in surrounding states.

The guide is divided into nine geographic travel regions, featuring ideas for outdoor recreation, craft beer, wine, dining, events and entertainment. The guide, a coffee-table travel magazine, also features articles and itinerary-based road trips.

“I’m thrilled to unveil the new West Virginia Vacation Guide,” Tourism Commissioner Chelsea Ruby said in a Thursday news release.

“From the beginning, we wanted to create a travel publication that stood out among those produced by our surrounding states by stylizing our advertisements and filling the guide with sponsored content from our industry partners.”

The release said this guide is the first major step toward regional cooperation and the use of a consistent brand image for the state.

“Upon ordering, you’ll see that the Vacation Guide is more than just your average state travel guide. It is a coffee-table travel magazine that is filled with inspirational content, stunning photography, and first-hand accounts of what makes West Virginia almost heaven.”

People can request a free copy by calling 800-CALL-WVA or visiting Guides also are available at welcome centers in the state.
