Wayne Julian Stuart, a 65-year resident of California and an 18-year resident of Landers, died June 13, 2018, in Riverside. He was 89 years old.

The son of Julian E. Stuart and Lois F. Stuart, he was born June 29, 1928, in Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Stuart served in the U.S. Army.

He was a teacher for the San Jacinto Unified School District for 25 years. Mr. Stuart served as mayor of San Jacinto for four years and on the Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees for eight years.

He was a member of the Masons and the Lutheran church and was a co-founder of the Community Food Bank.

Wayne loved travel, photography and trains.

He was preceded in death by son Jim Stuart and his ex-wife, Jo Anna Stuart.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine Stuart, of Landers; sons Dan, of Chino, Ben, of Eastvale, and Franklin, of Moreno Valley; and daughter Lois, of Redlands.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his brother, Claude Case Stuart, of Hemet.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5969 Brockton Ave., Riverside.
